In The Abyss

“Don’t you think its a bit much Gibson?” Asked Nova putting her arms across her chest.
“It’s suppose to be that way in order to properly serve its purpose.” Explained Gibson.
“Not afraid of a little challenge are you Nova?” Sprx said sarcastically as he waved his right magnet in the air.
“I’ll give you a challenge Sprx!” Yelled Nova as she shook her fist in Sprx’s face.
“C’mon you guys, chill… we’re all going to do great.” Chiro said smiling as he scratched the back of is head with his right hand.
“Chiro’s right.” Said Otto as he brought out his saws. “What’s the worst thing that could happen?”
“Perhaps it would be best if we got started… Gibson how’s it coming?” Asked Antauri.
“Just one more moment and… there!” Said Gibson as he finished typing something into the training room’s computer. “Now who will be the first to test my new mechanized training program?” Asked Gibson with a proud smile on his face.
“I’ll go first, Gibson!” Yelled Nova as she ran for the training room door.
“Of course you will.” Said Sprx with a hint of sarcasm.
“Oh, me next! Me next!” Yelled Otto. “Ahem! Now that we know who’s going when I need to tell all of you what we will be testing.” Said Gibson as he walked over to the controls. “I designed this program to test our endurance and tactical skills.” Explained Gibson. “The difference between this program and others we’ve done in the past is that this program tests us on both at the same time. It randomly picks an element and a tactical scenario, which means every level is different a…”
Gibson began to finish when he realized Sprx had pretended to nod off. “Very well then, Nova your up.” Sighed Gibson as he turned to the computer to start the first round.
After about 45 minutes had gone by it was finally time for the last person to have a turn.
“Why am I always the last one to try the new programs?” Said Chiro with an annoyed look on his face.
“We all go last eventually kid.” Said Sprx as Chiro hit his badge to transform into hyper mode.
“Yah well, lets get this over with.” Said Chiro as he walked into the training room. As the door closed behind him the simulation began.
“Oh, C’mon! Why did all of you get the good elements.” Said Chiro when he realized his element was earth. “I don’t see anything but high cliffs and barren desert.” Thought Chiro as he looked around.
“Remember Chiro, the enemy may not always present itself to you. You may have to go find it.” Said Antauri over the intercom.
“Got it.” Said Chiro as he began to walk around.  Suddenly he spotted smoke coming from a small valley.
“C’mon kid, your taking forever…” Said Sprx over the intercom. Chiro ignored him and kept on going. He soon reached the entrance to the valley, and made his way in. As he snuck around behind rocks and boulders he finally reached the source of he smoke.
It was Mandarin and a bunch of skeleton king’s formless minions. They were all armed with laser weapons and were guarding a small metal building. Just as he was about to approach Mandarin went inside the building and shut the door behind him.
“I wonder what this scenario is supposed to be anyway.” Chiro thought to himself.

(Mean while in the observation room…)
“This is sure taking a long time.” Said Nova as she watched Chiro through the glass window.
“Yes, and there’s something even more disturbing that I’ve found.” Said Gibson as everyone looked over at him.
“ What is it Gibson?” Antauri asked with a worried look on his face.
“I don’t remember ever putting this scenario in the program.” Said Gibson as he looked at the computer.
“We should get Chiro out of there now, I sense he may be in real danger.” Said Antauri. The rest of the team looked at him and nodded with agreement before turning back to the observation window.
“Chiro, stop what your doing we are ending the program… Chiro can you hear me? Chiro do you copy?!” Yelled Antauri.
“It’s no use… the communication system is down.” Said Gibson franticly trying to shut the program down.
“What’s wrong Gibson?” Asked Nova when she noticed him taking the frame off of the computers hard drive.
“The program is not responding.” Said Gibson as he got down on the ground and pulled the plug to end the program. “That should do it.” Said Gibson as he stood up.
“Well I don’t think that did do it!” yelled Otto as he pointed to the program that was somehow still in operation.
“What are we going to do!?” Yelled Sprx as he began to tense up.
“We’ll have to get him out our selves.” Said Gibson still curious to how the program was still in operation. “I can override the doors control panel, and we can get him out manually!” Otto ripped the cover off of the control panel. He almost had it re-wired when the door vanished into thin air.
“This can’t be happening!”  Nova screeched as she and everyone else looked through the window at Chiro, who had no idea what was going on.

(Meanwhile, back in the training room…)
Chiro sat observing his surroundings when he saw Mandarin come back out of the building.
“Now!” Chiro said to himself as he ran out of his hiding place. “I’ve got you now Mandarin!” He cried as he jumped high in the air above Mandarin. “Chiro spi--” Chiro couldn’t finish his sentence before Mandarin put up his left hand and stopped him in mid air.
“What is this?!” Yelled Chiro as he tried to get free of Mandarin’s grip. “What kind of simulation is this?!”
“This is no mere simulation, my hairless monkey.” Said Mandarin with a smile on his face.
“What are you--” But before Chiro could finish Mandarin pulled him in closer. Just then a tall ghost like woman appeared from the building behind Mandarin.
“Oh, Yes.” The woman said with an exhilarated look on her face. “The power coming from his life’s energy crystal is astounding.” She said as she took a few steps up to Chiro. “It’s perfect…” She said as she moved her hand over Chiro’s heart.
“AAAAAHH!!!” Chiro yelled as she pulled something glowing out of Chiro’s chest.
Some how even though he knew they weren’t there, Chiro could hear all of his friends scream his name at once and then nothing. He felt as if he were all alone… as if he had fallen into the abyss.  All of a sudden Chiro’s body went limp and Mandarin dropped him face down on the floor.
“Come we must leave this place.” Said Mandarin as he opened a portal and led the woman and the formless through the portal and disappeared. As soon as the portal closed the program shut down.

Back in the observation room, the Monkeys were franticly looking for a way in when the door re-appeared.
“Out of my way, Otto. That door is coming down!” Yelled Nova as she knocked the door down. Everyone piled into the room and ran over to Chiro’s lifeless body.
“Chiro! Chiro can you hear me?!” Yelled Antauri as he flipped Chiro over. “Chiro answer me! Chiro!”
But there was no answer.
Chiro’s eyes were half open but they were dark and lifeless, and his skin was cold to the touch.
“Kid! Snap out of it! Kid!” Yelled Sprx as he shook Chiro’s lifeless body.
“Gibson what’s wrong with him?!” Asked Nova with worry in her eyes.
“I…I don’t know…”Said Gibson with a sad look on his face. “I won’t know until I examine him and see what it is they’ve done to him.”
“Is he…” Otto couldn’t finish his sentence because it was too unthinkable.
“No…no, I sense something…Chiro is still alive but he’s getting weaker. We don’t have much time…”
